YET ANOTHER CTA RULING ISSUED... A district court has again issued a preliminary injunction against the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), and yesterday sided with plaintiffs in Smith v Treasury, which challenged the constitutionality of the new statute. The ruling has no practical implications given the nationwide injunction currently in place, but is the third such ruling of its kind and may bolster other ongoing suits pending in other jurisdictions.

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) signed legislation tightening oversight of private equity takeovers in the health care industry. The new law will be the first in the nation to bar certain “sale leaseback” agreements, in which hospitals sell their real estate and lease it back from investment trusts.
Arizona is on track to double the economic impact of its health innovation sector by 2033, according to the Arizona Bioindustry Association’s latest report. With a 24.6% employment increase since 2019, $683.3 million in academic R&D expenditures, and $281.8 million in venture capital investments in 2023, the state’s bioscience sector has rapidly increased.

Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) introduced a bill to amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to provide for the preemption of certain State overtime laws for agricultural employees.
Sen. Joni Ernst introduced a bill to require the head of each Executive agency to relocate 30 percent of the employees assigned to the headquarters of the Executive agency to duty stations outside the Washington metropolitan area, and for other purposes.
